The Pest: Filter Fly
Filter flies are Drain flies are small flies with short, hairy bodies and wings giving them a “furry” appearance. Adult Filter Flies are mostly nocturnal and associated with damp habitats. The larvae live in aquatic habitats (often with low oxygen), including bathroom sinks – they are common nuisance pests in bathrooms.
The Threat:So far, the Filter Fly is more of a threat than a nuisance. Its subfamily – the Sand Fly is known to transmit various tropical diseases.
